About Payroll Professional

Star Computers was the brainchild of David Blechner and Jack Schumann back in the early 1970s. Their mission was to bring affordable computerised accounting services to a wide range of organisations. With the advent of computerised payroll systems later that decade, Star developed its own payroll software. Originally built for mini-computers, it was redesigned in the mid-1990s becoming one of the first Windows-based payroll solutions. Since then the software has evolved continuously and is now used to support the payroll for over 70,000 employers. Our customers operate in all sectors of the economy, including over 50% of the Top 100 accountancy firms, payroll bureaux, schools and academies, commercial organisations, financial institutions, public sector and not-for-profit bodies.

In April 2018, our journey continued by becoming part of the IRIS Software Group and in May 2019 we rebranded our product to IRIS Payroll Professional.
